We believe you can’t tell a story you don’t know. So when this immersive placemaking and storytelling opportunity presented itself, we went into full research mode. Countless hours were spent getting the story right. From speaking with LU faculty, alumni, and local legends like Butch to visiting the @greenwood_rising Museum, it was imperative to authentically represent Langston and tell their story well.
In the end, we were able to weave together the rich history of the town of Langston and the proud generational legacy they provide as Oklahoma’s only HBCU. We were grateful to honor and celebrate LU’s pioneers and inspire the next generation to write their own chapter of the Langston University story.
