Johnie Hampton answered some questions about the design of the report and why it’s a winning design.
In Touch is a large ministry in Atlanta with a huge reach, how did you get connected with Dr. Stanley and his ministry?
JOHNIE: I have been a follower of Dr. Stanley’s of years, but through a great relationship with the CEO and his wife, I was asked to be the interim Creative Director. I gladly said YES.
What overall message did you want In Touch partners to see when reading this annual report?
JOHNIE: Many people see Dr. Stanley on TV each week. He’s been called “America’s Pastor.” We wanted those who support the ministry regularly to see what we see daily in the reports of those who are touched not only by the television broadcast, but all the many ways God’s Word is disseminated through the ministry. Including: intouch.org (millions of visits), social media (nearly 200,000 followers on Facebook), and the In Touch Magazine (1.6 million readers per month). Many people do not realize the true scope of the ministry!
What were some special or unique features about the report?
JOHNIE: We used a composite embossing on the printing of the cover (it’s a really cool texturing to give the reader a tangible feeling). The design is soft and easy to read. There’s a very touching DVD inside that shares some eye-watering testimonies of people who have been moved closer to Jesus because of In Touch.
What made this report stand out from the other annual reports that didn’t win in the Graphic Design USA awards?
JOHNIE: Great design. Great Content. Thanks for Mari Da Silva, an amazing designer from Venezuela, and Jennifer Rosania, the writer of this piece–who has a huge heart for leading people to Christ.
